As an Independent Funeral Celebrant, I'll work with you to create a funeral just how you wish it to be.

In years gone by Funerals were sombre occasions (and if that’s what you want that’s absolutely fine) but a Celebrant-led Funeral can still be poignant and respectful but with a more modern approach. Although many people do still choose a traditional service at a Crematorium there are so many choices available these days.

You may choose to hold a service at a local Village Hall, a Hotel or your own garden (followed by a Cremation or Burial). You may prefer to say your farewell at a Natural Burial site, and we have a number of these in our local area. With the increased popularity of Direct Cremations (unattended services) many people still want to honour their loved one in some way so holding a Memorial or Celebration of Life when the ashes have been returned may be your preferred choice.

You can find more details on all of these options below, but remember it's your service. I am here to support you whichever style of funeral you choose.

I predominantly work around the Goole/Doncaster/Pontefract area but am happy to conduct services across Yorkshire or further afield by arrangement.

How does it work?

Whichever type of funeral or ceremony your are planning, as your celebrant I will make the process as smooth as possible for you. Every funeral is different, but here’s an idea of how things work.

First contact

You can contact me directly either by telephone or email, or your Funeral Director may recommend me. I will telephone you within 24 hours of the initial enquiry to arrange to come and meet with you.

Our meeting

I will email you some things to be thinking about before we meet, then we will meet to talk about your loved one and your plans. You can ask me anything that you’re not sure about and I will ensure that you have my contact details.

Script writing

I will create a draft service for you to approve/amend. I will then incorporate any changes and resend the script to you. I will also liaise with the Funeral Director as required so that they are aware of everything we’ve agreed.

Final preparations

I will telephone you the day before the service as a courtesy to ensure that everything is still as we agreed. If you have any last-minute questions or if anything needs to change, I can support you with that process.

The funeral

On the day of the funeral service I will be at the Crematorium or service location early to ensure that everything is as it needs to be, and will be outside to meet you as you arrive. I will then conduct your heartfelt and meaningful ceremony.

After the funeral

Following the service I will contact you to ensure that everything went as you hoped it would, and if there is anything else I can help you with. You will also have a souvenir copy of the funeral script to keep and treasure.
