FAQs

Some of my most frequently asked questions...

Someone who creates and officiates a range of bespoke personalised Farewell Services. There are two main types of Celebrant:

Independent
Independent Celebrants are not bound by any religious organisation and can include whatever content you wish (within reason|). This may include Faith or Spiritual elements – but you don’t have to include these elements if you don’t want to. It is important that you choose a Funeral Celebrant with whom you feel confident and feel a connection with. I am an Independent Funeral Celebrant and I am happy to create a service with you that includes whatever content you want to include – poems, readings, prayers, symbolic elements.

Humanist
Humanist Celebrants do not believe in a God or an afterlife. They will not include anything pertaining to God/Religion/Spirituality or the afterlife in their services. They look to science or reason to explain things.

Absolutely you can and there are a number of options available for you to consider.

You may choose to have a service at the same time as the actual Direct Cremation is taking place or you may prefer to wait until you have received the ashes of your loved one back and choose to hold a service, at a location of your choice.

As part of that service the ashes may be interred (buried) or scattered.

The service may be a Memorial or a Celebration of Life and as your Celebrant I can offer you guidance or suggestions of how to create the most appropriate service for you and your loved one.

No – you can choose whichever Celebrant you want. You can contact them directly and then let your Funeral Director know your choice.

Remember – This is your Service – Your Choice.

This is a common concern so please do not worry about it. Although you may want to stand up and speak about your loved one it is important to remember that on the actual day of the Funeral your emotions can take over.

Please be reassured that as your Celebrant I will have copies of the words in my folder that you would be reading.

Before the service I will agree with you a discreet signal (that no one else need be aware of) that you can give me to let me know if you are happy to proceed or if you would prefer me to read your words on your behalf. Also, if you start to speak and then are unable to continue because it has become too difficult, be assured that I will be stood close by and I will step in and assist you.
